Have you ever had a moment when you knew—without a doubt—that God was speaking directly to you?
I'd love for you to think about your own story for a moment. What was the first time God revealed Himself to you? Was it through a person, a blessing, a difficult season, or something you simply couldn't explain?
For me, that moment came in 2023.
On the surface, life looked good. I had just gotten engaged, and things were going well at work. I genuinely enjoyed most of my coworkers and the environment I worked in. But behind the scenes, I was struggling.
My workload had become overwhelming. I was spending less and less time with my fiancé and my daughter, and I felt exhausted. Spiritually, I was empty. I hadn't stepped foot in a church since I was a child, and after everything I had been through in life, I found myself wondering if God was even paying attention to me.
One day, I couldn't hold those questions in anymore.
I sat on the edge of my bed and prayed.
My prayer was simple:
"God, if You're real, please show me a sign."
I stood up to get dressed, walked toward my closet, and as I opened my safe, something unexpected happened.
A necklace suddenly fell out and landed perfectly on the hanging clothes inside my closet.
At first, that may not sound unusual.
But this wasn't just any necklace.
It was a locket that one of my closest friends had given me in 2016 after my grandmother passed away.
My sisters and I were raised by our grandmother after our mother passed away when I was only three years old. Imagine raising your own children and then suddenly becoming the parent of three young granddaughters. It couldn't have been easy, but my grandmother did it with unconditional love. She never made us feel like we were a burden. She simply loved us.
When she passed away in 2016, it felt like losing my mother all over again. The only difference was that this time I was 23 years old, and I had been blessed with years of memories with the woman who had raised me.
Not long after her passing, a dear friend gave me a beautiful silver locket. On the front were the words "My Angel," and on the back was my grandmother's name engraved.
To this day, it remains one of the most meaningful gifts I've ever received.
If you've read my introduction to My Special Christian Life, then you know that in 2019 I fled an abusive relationship and moved to another state with only one suitcase and $20. I left so much behind that day, and I believed that necklace was one of the things I had lost forever.
I had searched for it.
I had accepted it was gone.
Or so I thought.
Yet, moments after asking God to reveal Himself, there it was... hanging in my closet.
A necklace I hadn't seen in years.
A necklace I thought I'd never hold again.
I immediately picked it up, walked back to my bed, and cried.
Not tears of sadness, but tears of gratitude.
In that moment, I knew.
God had heard my prayer.
Was the necklace there all along? Maybe. But the timing of finding it—just moments after I asked God for a sign—was something I couldn't ignore. For me, it became a deeply personal reminder that God hears our prayers, even when we've questioned His presence.
That moment didn't make my life perfect overnight.
It didn't erase every struggle.
But it changed my heart.
It became the beginning of my walk with Christ and the foundation of the faith I'm still growing in today.
That's why My Special Christian Life exists. It's a place where I can share the moments that have strengthened my faith, the lessons God continues to teach me, and the hope I've found in Him.
Now I'd love to hear from you.
What was the moment when God first revealed Himself to you?
