Welcome: How I Got Unstuck

Prayer. Prayer. And even more prayer.
That's what this season of my life has been about.
One Sunday, I sat in church listening to the sermon, and it felt like every word was meant for me. The message was about feeling stuck—stuck in a marriage, a job, a financial situation, or simply stuck in life. In that moment, I realized I wasn't just listening to the message... I was living it.
I had been dreaming about making big changes for my family, but every dream seemed to come with a price tag I couldn't afford. As a wife, a mother of two beautiful girls, months away from earning my bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, and the primary caregiver to my youngest daughter, who has special needs, I couldn't figure out how I was supposed to do more.
I searched for every possible answer. Maybe I should go back to school. Maybe another degree would open the right doors. Maybe I needed a side hustle. At one point, I even convinced myself that the lottery or casino games might be my breakthrough. After spending far more than I should have with nothing to show for it, I realized I wasn't going to gamble my way into the life I wanted.
That's when my prayers changed.
Instead of asking, "God, how do I get more money?" I started asking, "God, how do You want me to grow?"
Not long after, while standing in the shower, something clicked.
I've been stuck before.
And I've escaped before.
If God brought me through one impossible season, He could do it again.
That realization is the heart behind My Special Christian Life. This blog isn't about having all the answers or living a perfect Christian life. It's about sharing the real journey—the struggles, the victories, the lessons, and the faith that carries us through when life feels impossible. My hope is that by sharing my story, you'll find encouragement to keep trusting God through your own.
To understand why that realization mattered so much, you have to know where my journey really began.
My oldest daughter was born during one of the darkest chapters of my life. I was in a relationship that was toxic, controlling, and abusive in every sense of the word—physically, mentally, emotionally, sexually, and financially. We had been together for six years, and the abuse began just weeks into the relationship.
People often ask, "Why didn't you leave?" The answer isn't simple. I was 19 years old, inexperienced, and convinced that what I was living through was somehow normal. Like so many others, I stayed far longer than I should have.
Everything changed when my daughter was eight months old.
We were facing homelessness again, but this time it wasn't just about me. I had a baby depending on me, and I knew she deserved better.
Then, what felt like an answer to prayer arrived.
My sister came to visit. Without knowing the full extent of what I was living through, she simply said, "Come back with me."
So I did.
I quit my job. I secretly packed one suitcase with everything I could fit for me and my daughter. With just $20 in my pocket, we slipped away to the airport and boarded a plane toward a new life.
I cried the entire flight.
It was one of the hardest decisions I've ever made.
But it was also the first step toward freedom.
Welcome to My Special Christian Life—a place where faith meets real life. Here I'll share the highs and lows of motherhood, marriage, raising a child with special needs, healing from trauma, finding purpose, and learning to trust God one step at a time. If you've ever felt stuck, overwhelmed, or uncertain about what's next, I hope my story reminds you that God can use every chapter of your life to lead you toward freedom.
Your story is so powerful! And I am so thankful that you are sharing it as an encourgment for others. So many are going through and are ready to just give up. But this here and your belief in God is going to help so many others.
