Good Morning and Happy New Year!

“Happy New Year?” Yes—today is my birthday, and it marks the beginning of a brand-new year for me. God has blessed me with another opportunity to see a new morning, a new day, and another year of life.

This year, I am choosing to expand the gifts God has given me and continue using them for His glory.

This morning, instead of hitting the snooze button until I couldn’t hit it anymore, I woke up before the sun. I went for a 30-minute walk while listening to God’s Word. Then, I woke my daughter for her first day of school. Now, I am writing while enjoying my morning cup of coffee—and I must admit, I feel great.

Despite getting older and my body not always agreeing with me, my spirit feels younger, lighter, and more refreshed.

As I sent my daughter off to begin her new journey as a second grader, I covered her in prayers for peace, love, protection, and wisdom. Watching her walk into another school year reminded me that new beginnings are not only for children. God gives all of us opportunities to begin again.

A new beginning does not always require a new calendar year.

Sometimes, it begins on a birthday.

Sometimes, it starts on an ordinary morning when we decide to get out of bed, move our bodies, open our Bibles, pray, and make a different choice.

Today, I am choosing differently.

I am choosing to be more intentional with my time. I am choosing to care for the body God has given me. I am choosing to create, write, encourage, and share the message He has placed in my heart. Most importantly, I am choosing to trust God with the parts of this new year that I cannot yet see.

There are so many things I want to accomplish, but I am learning that I do not have to accomplish everything at once. Growth does not always happen in giant leaps. Sometimes, it happens through small acts of obedience repeated every day.

One walk.

One prayer.

One page.

One healthy decision.

One brave step toward the purpose God has placed inside me.

As mothers, we often become so focused on preparing our children for their next chapter that we forget God is still writing ours. We make sure they have what they need, encourage them to try new things, and remind them that they are capable. Yet we sometimes struggle to offer ourselves that same patience and encouragement.

Today, I am reminding myself that I am still growing too.

I am not too old to dream a new dream. I am not too busy to answer God’s call. I am not too far behind to begin again. My life still has purpose, and the gifts God placed inside me are still worthy of being developed and shared.

The Bible tells us:

“So teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.”

—Psalm 90:12, NKJV

This scripture does not tell us to fear the passing of time. Instead, it reminds us to value our days and use them wisely.

Every morning is a gift.

Every birthday is a reminder that God has carried us through another year.

Every new season gives us an opportunity to reflect, grow, and move forward with greater wisdom.

I do not know everything this new year of life will bring.

There may be beautiful moments, unexpected challenges, answered prayers, and seasons that require me to wait.

But I know the same God who carried me through every previous chapter will remain with me in the next one.

My prayer for this year is not simply that everything will be easy. I pray that I will remain faithful. I pray that I will recognize God’s voice, follow His direction, and have the courage to use my gifts even when I feel uncertain. I pray that I will be present with my family, gentle with myself, and willing to grow.

I also pray that my daughters will see more than what I accomplish. I hope they see a mother who trusts God, gets back up when life becomes difficult, and continues pursuing her purpose. I want them to understand that becoming older does not mean we stop dreaming. It means we have more experiences, lessons, and testimonies to carry with us.

So, happy new year to me!

Here’s to another year of faith, family, purpose, healing, and growth. Here’s to early mornings, peaceful walks, warm cups of coffee, new school years, new ideas, and the courage to begin.

Most of all, here’s to allowing God to lead every step.

A Birthday Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank You for allowing me to see another year of life. Thank You for every lesson, every blessing, and even the difficult seasons that helped me grow. Please guide my steps in this new chapter. Help me use my time wisely and develop the gifts You have placed inside me. Protect my family, cover my children, strengthen my marriage, and keep my heart close to You. May everything I create and everything I accomplish bring glory to Your name. Give me the courage to begin, the discipline to continue, and the faith to trust You with the outcome.
