What Do You Do in Your Season of Waiting?

"Wait on the Lord; be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart; wait, I say, on the Lord!"Psalm 27:14 (NKJV)

Have you ever found yourself asking, "Lord, how much longer?"

Whether you're waiting for a new opportunity, healing, restored relationships, financial breakthrough, or an answer to a prayer you've been faithfully lifting up, waiting can feel exhausting.

We often hear the saying, "Good things come to those who wait," and while I believe that's true, waiting is rarely easy.

If we're honest, the question we usually ask isn't if God will answer—it's when.

The answer isn't always what we want to hear.

"When the time is right."

Simple? Yes. Easy to accept? Not always.

Waiting Is Part of God's Process

Starting something new, praying for a breakthrough, or trusting God with a dream all have one thing in common—they require waiting. Unfortunately, our focus can quickly shift from trusting God to constantly watching the clock.

We begin to wonder why someone else's prayers seem to be answered before ours. We question whether

God has forgotten us or if we're doing something wrong.

But God's timing has never been late. In fact, many times He's using the waiting season to prepare us for what's ahead.

So, What Do We Do While We Wait?

Instead of asking, "God, when will You answer my prayer?" try asking,

"Lord, while I'm waiting, what are You teaching me?"

That one question can completely change your perspective.

Maybe God is calling you to spend more time with Him.

Maybe there's something in your life He wants you to let go of before He opens the next door.

Maybe He's strengthening your faith so you'll be ready to carry the blessing when it comes.

Or maybe He's simply reminding you that His plans are better than anything you could arrange on your own.

Don't Let the Waiting Become Worrying

Philippians 4:6 reminds us:

"Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God." (NKJV)

Instead of allowing worry to consume your thoughts, turn those thoughts into prayers.

Thank God for what He's already done.

Pray for wisdom.

Continue serving Him faithfully.

Trust that even when you can't see Him working, He is.

Your Waiting Has a Purpose

Looking back over my own life, I've realized some of God's greatest blessings came after seasons of waiting. At the time, I didn't understand why things weren't happening the way I wanted. Now I can see that God wasn't withholding His blessings—He was preparing me for them.

If you're in a season of waiting today, don't lose heart.

Keep praying.

Keep trusting.

Keep walking by faith.

The God who gave you the promise is faithful to fulfill it in His perfect time.

Reflection

What if your season of waiting isn't a delay, but an invitation to grow closer to God?

Instead of counting the days until your blessing arrives, ask God to make every day of waiting meaningful. You may discover that the greatest gift isn't just what you've been praying for—it's the deeper relationship with Him that you find along the way.

"But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength..." — Isaiah 40:31 (NKJV)
